The lack of dominance is one cause of aggression. Dogs are pack animals and acknowledge a hierarchy of the pack order. That means they are looking for an authority figure to tell them what to do. That authority figure must be you. Make him realize who the boss is (hopefully you) and that he is low on the hierarchy scale. Control his every day life including his playtime, eating time, and what he eats.
Dogs become aggressive because they are afraid of something. When they can’t control their fears or the situation is threatening, they strike out by biting.
If your dog is growling, that is an early sign of aggression. Dog training for aggressive behavior when this happens should start right away.
Jumping up at you. Don’t let him do it. If he can jump on you, he will jump on others. This is especially dangerous if he jumps on small children.
A firm “NO” command should stop your dog immediately. Stop him in his “dog” tracks and get him away from his undesirable behavior.
You should praise him when he does something right. Talk to him while petting him.
The next blog will continue to discuss some basic information relating to the training for aggressive dogs. In the meantime, Click here to find out more about aggressive dog training.
